Apple announces new iPad Air with 64 bit processor and slimmer profile

While we expected an upgrade in the fifth generation of the Apple iPad, we never expected such tremendous streamlining in the products.
The iPad Air
Apple has announced the new tablet measuring 9.7 inches called the iPad Air. Unlike the other iPads the iPad Air has a refreshing design with full metal body and the slim profile. The iPad Air measures just 7.5 mm in thickness, making it thinner than all the previous devices and the bezels have shrunk by almost 43 percent.
The 64 bit version dual core Apple A7 processor, which was used in the Apple iPhone 5S has also been used in the iPad Air. The Retina Display with a resolution of 2048 x 1536 pixels on the 9.7 inch display has been properly maintained. Similarly, the devices uses the 5MP iSight camera with auto-focus but however has an improved front-facing FaceTime HD camera. The device is said to be priced starting from $499 for a 16 GB Wi-Fi version.
Meanwhile Apple has renamed the iPad 4 as the Apple iPad 2 and priced at $399, which is the same price as that of the Apple iPad Mini 2.

Nokia Lumia Black update revealed: Refocus and RAW Camera support, Storyteller and more

Nokia showed off much at the Nokia World 2013. But even though its release of 6 devices hogged the limelight, there was something in the background that was equally commendable – the Nokia Lumia Black Update.
Lumia Black Update
The Nokia Lumia Black update seems like Nokia’s gift to the world before it goes out. It added lots of stuff and will make the users of Nokia Lumia devices  jump with joy. Here’s the stuff to look forward to in the update:

Nokia Beamer

The Nokia Beamer is the new screen sharing mechanism from Nokia. It takes its lead from the Photobeamer app currently present on Lumia smartphones. While Photobeamer allowed one to create a QR code and share pictures using it, Beamer takes it to a whole new level by allowing you to mirror your Lumia  device. You can for example, mirror the Lumia 1520′s 1080p screen on a Nokia Lumia 920.

Glance Notifications

Nokia has greatly improved on its glance notifications with the Nokia Lumia Black update. Glance is the custom screen displayed when the phone is in the Standby mode. The update adds an image background mode, so that your phone does not look bland in the mode anymore. Along with that, Nokia is adding notification support.
If you are the sporty type, Nokia is adding a pedometer just in case. It will measure your steps and put the information on the Glance screen.

Nokia Camera app

This is the best feature of the Nokia Lumia Black update. If you have a Pureview phone like the Nokia Pureview 808 or the Nokia Lumia 1020, you are in for a treat. Nokia is bringing high-level photography updates to its Camera app.
The new camera app allows you to shoot in RAW format, allowing you to edit the photos in Photoshop later.
The most awesome feature though is the Refocus feature, which lets you focus on different parts of an image, after you have taken it! Even your friends can do so over Facebook. Yay!
The app also allows you to focus on colors and greyscale every other part of the image, which is something different from any smartphone camera filter available in the market.
Storyteller
Nokia’s Lumia Black update adds a feature called storyteller. It is an amazing new way to organize your clicks. It also puts GPS tags on your clicks using Nokia HERE Maps. You can actually click on the pic and get to know where it was taken, not just when.

HERE Drive, HERE Transit and HERE Drive+

Nokia has updated its Here Drive feature to include saved maps, so that in case you are in an area where the connection may suffer, you can just revert to your saved maps. While HERE Drive comes with just your country’s maps, HERE Drive+ which comes on the Nokia 1520 will include the world’s maps. You can also download maps other than those on the app.
The HERE transit app adds lots of new features such as
  • Customizing your walking speed, preferred walking distance, number of changes and transport modes for better personalization.
  • Spotting nearby stations with LiveSight for better orientation.
  • Long-taping on a station on the screen to start journey directions

Vine, Instagram, FIFA’14 and Flipboard

Lumia users have always complained that despite having the best features on their Lumia smartphones, they lag in terms of apps. The Nokia Lumia Black update brings with it some of the biggest apps out there such as Vine, Flipboard, FIFA’14 but most importantly Instagram. While Flipboard has been especially tweaked to include an integrated search feature on the Nokia Lumia 2520, FIFA’14 will pour in soon on the Nokia Lumia 1520 and Lumia 1520.

BBM Messenger for ANDROID and iOS

BlackBerry has finally began rolling out its much-awaited BBM app on both Android and iOS platforms. BBM for Android as well as iOS is now available. The app’s release comes nearly a month after it was first supposed to hit the App Stores.

In a blog post announcing the rollout, Andrew Bocking, Head of BBM at BlackBerry said that about six million people had signed up on BlackBerry’s website to receive information about BBM. These people, in turn, have become the first ones to get access to the application.
It's finally here
It's finally here

“If you are among the millions that took the time to sign up at BBM.com, you can start using BBM immediately without waiting in line,” he writes. If you did sign on, you should have received an email by BlackBerry, asking to download the application. If you didn’t sign up, you can still do so as BlackBerry says it is trying hard to move the app to millions of more users.

Bocking has also mentioned in his post that Samsung customers in Sub-Sahara Africa can download BBM today from the Samsung Apps store. iPhone and other Android users in Africa will be able to download the app in three days time.

To jog your memory, BlackBerry Messenger for Android and iOS was supposed to roll out last month but the global launch was paused midway when the company started to encounter issues. These were caused by about 1 million over-enthusiastic Android users installing an unreleased version of the app. Only a handful of countries had managed to get BBM for iOS before it was yanked out of the Apple App Store too.
Still troublesome
Still troublesome

More beta tests on Android were run before the release of the app. However, we’re still encountering issues in trying to get on to using the application. While the app keeps saying that the device is not connected to a wireless network even when it is, we’ve faced several hiccups on the sign-up screen that refuse to go away, despite getting in line on the BlackBerry website months ago.

To see if the cross-platform messaging app is working on your iDevice or Android phone, you can download BBM for iOS and BBM for Android from the respective app stores.

Google Gem Smart watch:::Brief description:::-

Google Gem smartwatch to be unearthed with Android 4.4 KitKat?
Google's smartwatch could be built by Motorola

Now that Samsung's got its Galaxy Gear out the door and Sony has bestowed its Smartwatch 2 upon our wrists, Google is believed to be next up for entering the arena.
We know the Google smartwatch is probably not far off but today we've heard that it could even be coming this month, and currently exists under the codename of the Google Gem.
Now, the information is reported by Android Police's Artem Russakovskii in a Google+ post, and while that makes it slightly more credible than just some person off the street, he doesn't offer any source to back it up.

Be wary

But according to Russakovskii, the smartwatch will be announced on October 31. In a separate post, he claims that this will also be the date we see Android 4.4 KitKat officially launched.
Russakovskii said he obtained the information about a month ago, and it could well have changed in that time. "None of this may end up being true, though I have a good level of confidence in the sources," he noted.
It's full steam ahead in the smartwatch space right now. Apple is also believed to be readying the iWatch, while Samsung is expected to be following up the Galaxy Gear with an improved and updated model.

Apple iWatch release date, news and rumours:-

Apple iWatch release date, news and rumours
Stop! iWatch time

What time is it? If you check your smartwatch, you may find that it's a text message past a Twitter notification but if you check the zeitgeist, you'll find that it's wearable tech time.
After more than a year of relegation to 'next big thing' status, the smartwatch is finally breaking out into the mainstream with the likes of the Samsung Galaxy Gearand Sony Smartwatch 2 following where Kickstarter phenomenon Pebble led.
But we're yet to see a watch with true wow-factor and, for that, many are looking to Apple.
Rumors of an Apple smartwatch have abounded since Pebble first hit the big time. The so-called iWatch has so far failed to materialise in 2013 but will we see Apple get in on the wrist-worn game in 2014?
We've rounded up all the rumors and speculation to keep things ticking (geddit!) over. Which seem likely and which are complete Apple poppycock? Let's find out.

Does the iWatch even exist?

That's the million dollar question, and one that only the Apple insiders really know the answer to for now. So the short answer is: we don't know.
Now for the longer answer:
Way, way back in 2008, Apple co-founder and renegade loud-mouth Steve Wozniak "let slip" to the Telegraph that "Apple's future could lie in an 'iWatch'." And, in April 2013, an Apple board member mentioned the word 'watch'.
Taking time out of dissing Google Glass ("I wear glasses because I have to"), Apple CEO Tim Cook told attendees at All Things D that "the wrist is interesting" in May, thus kindling thousands of iWatch rumours across the web.
The WSJ seems 'confident' that the iWatch is real because it's been talking to "people briefed on the effort", while a couple of analysts have stuck their oars in too, saying "Yup, an Apple Watch. That sounds feasible. I'm going to say yes, that exists."
Then, in the midst of a thousand iWatch rumours, Apple seemed to confirm that it was at least thinking about releasing a product of that name by trademarking 'iWatch' in Japan, Mexico, Russia and a number of other countries.
But a trademark does not a definite product launch make.

The Nike connection

While the world and it's sister got hyped about smartwatches when the Pebble Kickstarter went stratospheric, Apple's interest in watches stretches back beyond that.
Design guru Jony Ive, in particular, is a fan. According to ex-Nike man and watch designer Scott Wilson, in the mid-2000s, Jony Ive took his team to visit watch factories and ordered boxes of "a sports watch" made by Nike.
That's well before Nike's Fuelband hit the mainstream, but the two companies are close.
Like, really close: nevermind Apple CEO Tim Cook sitting on Nike's board of directors and wearing a Fuelband day in day out, Apple has reportedly hired Ben Shaffer (previously innovation leader at Nike) and Jay Blahnik, a health and fitness instructor who consulted on the Fuelband for Nike.
So Apple really likes the Fuelband.

Jony Ive and his health and sport-focused dream team

The supposed iWatch project is supposedly being headed up by Jony Ive. Bloomberg reports that around 100 engineers are working under Ive to develop the device, but a number of secretive yet also high profile hires also hint at the Apple watch's potential capabilities.
Aside from the ex-Nike men Apple has brought on board, Apple has hired a raft of sleep analysis experts, who hold "several patents for integrating mobile devices with fitness equipment" and biometric scienticians to boot.
So it could be supposed that Apple is planning some kind of health and sport-focussed device. And if that device played nice with your iOS devices and just so happened to be worn on your wrist, the same wrist that Tim Cook thinks is interesting, then it stands to reason that Apple could, perhaps, name it the iWatch.

The iWatch will be about curvature

The most recent word claims that Apple may be going for the whole bendy approach with a fully flexible plastic OLED screen.
Before that'd we'd heard that Apple was playing with the idea of curved Corning glass. "Apple is experimenting with wristwatch-like devices made of curved glass," says the NYT's Nick Bilton, quoting "people familiar with the company's explorations".
The glass "can curve around the human body" and may be Corning's just-announced Willow Glass, which "can flop as easily as a piece of paper in the wind without breaking."
Adding credence to this particular supposition is the fact that Apple haspatented a '90s slap-band style form factor which would require such a flexible display. Apple's patented plenty of tech that never sees the literal light of day - we can't help but hope this isn't one of those.

The iWatch has Bluetooth but display size isn't locked down

That's what Chinese gadget site Tech.163 reckons, anyway, although that might be one of many prototypes. Bluetooth is essential, though: if the iWatch is going to communicate with your phone or iPod, low energy Bluetooth is the way to do it.
A 1.5-inch screen suggests it'll show selected information from your iOS device rather than mirror the whole display, which would be rubbish.
However Apple is also said to still be toying with its idea of a 1.3-inch or 1.4-inch screen, though it's the 1.5-incher that is said to exist as a full prototype right now.

The iWatch may have Siri and Maps

Nick Bilton again: "Would it include Siri, the voice assistant? Would it have a version of Apple's map software, offering real-time directions to people walking down the street? Could it receive text messages? Could it monitor a user's health or daily activity?"
Some of Bilton's questions have since been reported as fact by more excitable outlets, but the idea of having Siri makes sense, not least because you could pretend to be a sci-fi secret agent.
If Siri is on board, it may be because the iWatch is running a form of actual iOS rather than a souped-up iPod nano software system - thus supposes Bloomberg again, with 'confirmation' provided by The Verge's inside sources.

The iWatch features could include authentication, NFC, home automation and flying cars

Bruce Tognazzini makes it clear his ideas are "not based on insider information" but they include predicting the weather, organising your life, monitoring every step you take, replacing cash, making Passbook work really well and even fixing Apple Maps. We were with you right up till that last one, Bruce.
He makes a good point about the iWatch release date too: "Apple, when you look back, is never actually the first. They let a few others, sometimes many others, experiment first. (Tablets were out for more than a decade.) Then, they bring out the killer product."
In March it emerged that the Apple Watch may come packing fingerprint scanning tech for NFC-based security reasons, although this news comes from an analyst who heard it from a supplier who had it from a leprechaun who came to him in a dream.
This rumour became less spurious when Apple launched the Touch ID-toting iPhone 5S in September 2013, of course.
Never one to shy away from a challenge, we've put our own concept design together based on rumours and speculation so far. It's classier than a G-Shock, we think you'll agree.

The Apple Watch release date will be 2013...

So said a bunch of rumours from the likes of Bloomberg, The Verge, an analyst and more.
The iWatch failed to materialise at September's iPhone launch event, but perhaps it will make its debut on October 22 alongside the iPad 5 and iPad mini 2.
OR...

The Apple Watch release date will be 2014... or 15... or never

Quite aside from Tim Cook promising "some really great stuff coming... across all of 2014", when Apple hired ex-Burberry chief Angela Ahrendts to sort out its shops, a lot of people thought hey! she's from fashion, watches are kind of fashion-y, maybe this is something to do with the iWatch.
Hey, maybe. After all, Ahrendts supposedly "took particular interest in the watch retailing space" during her time at Burberry. Ahrendts doesn't start at Apple until 'spring 2014'. Hmm.
Of course, there's always the possibility that Apple looked into making an iWatch and then decided naaaah.

The iWatch will face stiff competition

In fact, it already does. The wearable watch market could be the next big tech battleground as perennial Apple nemesis Samsung has already released its Galaxy Gear smartwatch.
Other smartwatches have made their way into the limelight in recent months too: there's the original Kickstarted Pebble and the Sony Smartwatch 2 to contend with, not to mention a host of new gadgets from unlikely sources like AdidasQualcomm and Garmin.
Other tech heavyweights are rumoured to be getting in on the timekeeping game too; the Apple watch may have to fight off competition from Google, which filed a smart watch patent last year and was 'confirmed' to be working on a timepiece by the good folk over at the Financial Times.
Since then, rumours of a Google Gem watch have percolated through the web - could we see Google unveil its watch alongside the Nexus 5 and Android KitKat before October is out? .
Also leaping aboard the largely-imaginary bandwagon is LG. Despite launching a disappointing phone-watch thing back in 2009, LG isn't being deterred and finally has an Apple watch baiting rumour of its own thanks to the Korea Times.
And it's not just smart watches that will give the iWatch a run for its money - other wearable tech like Google Glass swims in the same pool. Twitter co-founder Jack Dorsey is backing Apple's watch over the glasses in the short-term, but who's to say which will win out overall.
Last but not least, even long-standing watch-maker Casio piped up to say that it's ready to take on the likes of Apple and Samsung in the great battle for your wrist.
We've taken an in-depth look at the competition between the two types of sartorial gadget too, and conclude that the Apple Watch has the edge solely because it'll hit the mainstream (and mainstream price points) first.

The iWatch price is a total mystery

Remember before the iPad launched and everyone thought it'd be $1,000? Oh, how we laugh about that now.
Clearly, though, until we have a better idea of what the Apple Watch is and whether Apple is actually going to ship it, nobody has the faintest idea what it'll cost.
Nobody but one anonymous analyst who had a stab at pricing and reckons somewhere between $149 and $229 (£100 to £150 / AU$167 - AU$250) seems likely.

How to download Android Apps and Games On PC from Google PlayStore-

A utility to download Android apps from Google Play Store directly to your PC.

We have been testing and reviewing a lot of Android phones and tablets in the recent past, and we definitely need to keep a few apps for benchmarking and other such information. In order to do the same, we initially need to set up wireless networking, punch in the credentials of the Google account, then search for the needed apps and download them. Downloading apps from the Google Play Store requires an account and hence the entire exercise. This is not only time consuming, but also painfully slow at times when the Internet connection is down or weak. In order to get things in the fast lane, we use an app to back up the apps and save them on the PC. On the other hand, as we all know, most apps keep being updated by their developers and tracking the updates is not possible if we do not have the Google account setup on the Android device. This means doing the same thing all over again and hitting the 'Update App' button every time we have to test a new device.
Real APK Leecher
Real APK Leecher

Many others who constantly do ROM installations and updates on their Android devices would also like to keep a backup of the apps. Installing apps directly from the SD card not only saves downloading time, but also helps you save money by using the Internet on 3G connections. You can save apps to the SD card using third-party apps such as File ExpertTitanium BackupApp Monster and other such utilities, but they only save the currently installed apps. So then, what about new updates for the apps? Updating the app is only possible after installing it and then running the Play Store to check for any updates.
Setup the utility
Set up the utility

In order to overcome this obstacle, we found a Windows-based utility on the XDA forums, developed by the ‘Codeimba.com’ team from Vietnam, called ‘Real APK Leecher’. The software is a JAVA-based utility, which connects to the Internet and the Google Play Store online. The utility needs to be filled with the details of your Google account and the Device ID of your phone in the options. Once the necessary details are filled, it can be used to search and download apps from the Play Store. You can also specify a folder where you have existing apps stored so that they can be scanned and checked for any updates. The apps and updates can be downloaded to a folder of your choice. Read ahead for a walk through on how to get the app and set it up on your PC.
Get your Device ID
Get your Device ID

Download the Real APK Leecher utility from here. Download the archived ZIP file and unzip the contacts to a folder on your desktop. Now open the folder and run the file ‘Real APK Leecher.exe’. Since you would be running the utility for the first time, the options (Configuration window) will be shown. In this window, you will need to give in the details of your valid Google email address, the password to the email account and the Device ID. The device ID will be available on your phone itself; you need to extract it using a simple code on the phone dialler. Start the dialler on your phone and punch in the below mentioned code:

                                         *#*#8255#*#*

The details of this procedure are also provided in the same window where these details need to be fed in the utility.  If you are using a tablet, the phone dialler will not be available. You can download an app called ‘DeviceID’ to get the details of your tablet. These settings need to be done only once, unless you change the phone, tablet or Google account. Further, you have the choice of showing the number of records between 10 to 30 apps on the page while searching for apps. Next, choose the language and country, leave the SIM Operator Number as empty (default) and enter the location to save the downloaded apps along with the location for the folder where your apps are already downloaded and need updates. After these settings are done, you can click on the Save button and the utility will start.

Note: If you make any mistake in the settings, especially with the email address, password and device ID, the utility will not work as it will give you an error in logging into your account. Double-check your settings if you get any errors.

Now that the utility has started, you can search for the app using its vendor name, package name or custom name in the search bar. Depending on the choice you made earlier, the number of searched apps will be listed in the window below. To download the app, simply click on it once to highlight the entire field, then right-click on the line and select the download option.

Note: The searched apps will have both free and paid versions showing up and you can only download free versions. If the app is a paid version, you will not be able to download it, as there are no options for payment through this utility. You can hit the Google Play link to go to the Play Store and do the necessary payments there. If you have already paid for the app earlier, then you can download the app without this extra step.
Check for app updates on your PC

To check for updates for your already downloaded apps, you can right-click on any app in the list and click on the ‘Scan Existing Folder’ option. The utility will then ask you one more time if you want to scan the folder you previously entered in the options or any other folder on your PC. Click on OK and the utility will scan every app in the specified folder and list the entire content of that folder. Each app will be listed with icons, which will specify if there is an update available for any of the apps. The icon with the exclamatory mark in a triangle is the one with updates available. Next, right-click on the app and click on the download option. Apps that are not available on the Play Store or are pirated will show up with a question mark, whereas the ones with the green check mark are apps that have no updates.

You can also use this utility to download apps that are not available in your country by changing the SIM Operator Number in the options field. Apps that have carrier restrictions can be faked to get the apps downloaded. To do this on your phone itself, you need to have a rooted phone and market enabler app. Using this utility, you can do it without any hitch. The SIM Operator Number (SON) for various mobile carriers around the world can be availed from here. The SON is a combination of the MCC and MNC numbers. SON = MCC + MNC. For example, Vodafone IN Mumbai has MMC number 404 and MNC number 20, which makes the SON 40420. Enter this number in the SON field in the options window.
